Mater Private Hospital Brisbane is committed to delivering the highest standard of care for all patients. Through SafeQuest and in partnership with a wide variety of specialist doctors, Mater Private Hospital Brisbane continuously look to improve the experience and outcomes for all patients. Patient safety and the delivery of quality care is our core focus, one which we measure across a range of categories. We believe our performance is something that we should share with the community.
Hand hygiene is a vitally important practice for healthcare workers and has a significant impact on reducing the spread of infections in hospitals; these are often called health care associated or acquired infections. Hand hygiene is a different way of thinking about safety and patient care and involves everyone working together including patients, visitors and health care workers.
At Mater, we have designed a program to help prevent patients from falling. All adult patients across Mater are assessed for their risk of falling on admission and each day they are in hospital. This allows us to ensure we can monitor patients more closely and use strategies to assist patients with their mobility and transfer when they are at increased risk of falls.
Mater hospitals are committed to ensuring patients who require medication receive the right medications at the right time. With around three million medications administered to patients annually when they are in our hospitals, Mater has a continuous focus on eliminating errors in medication prescription, dispensing, administration and patient monitoring.
Through our innovative Medication Safety Program, Mater has been able to focus on key aspects that contribute to ensuring the safety of patients receiving medications. We strive to continuously improve our performance using measures that are benchmarked across other Australian hospitals.
Mater Private Hospital Brisbane's Rehabilitation Unit is committed to ensuring patients experience exceptional care. Our aim is to simply provide patients with the greatest opportunity to return to routine life. Rehabilitation is concerned with the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of people with limited function as a consequence of disease, injury, impairment or disorder. Patient safety and quality care is a core focus for Mater in achieving these outcomes. We recognise the importance of this focus and through an ongoing partnership with private specialists we aim to deliver the highest level of rehabilitation care.
